I know you don’t want everyone stealing your artwork. I understand that. But I’ve seen people tag with HUGE ASS Impact and Helvetica. It makes me wonder how the world would’ve turned out if artists from previous centuries had been that obnoxious.
I am laughing. Still, when it’s off to the side I like it. In fact, when I reblog things from my tracked tags I usually look for watermarks and see if it matches the poster…
Actually, that is exactly what Michaelangelo did on the Pieta - he was so young that people had trouble accepting that he was the one who really carved the statue, so he snuck in the gallery where it was being displayed in the middle of the night and carved his name diagonally across Adonis’ mum’s chest. Am mentioning this not to be pedantic, but for the loltastic coincidence that he was doing the exact same things that watermarkers do xD
I need book suggestions for my roommate’s Christmas gift. I feel like she will read pretty much anything but try to be on the more “normal” side. I know she has read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series (if this helps at all).
Try to think outside the box if you can.
I am unsure if she would appreicate Good Omens.
Also, she is a history major and likes art/art history.
Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov if she likes russian novels and wouldn’t be offended by religious speculation
The Book Thief
If she’s the artsy pretentious type, Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson
JURRASIC PAARK. pRIDE AND PREJUDICEEEE. (had to get those out on the same line, sorry) if you didn’t want to throw P&P at her, you could get her Northanger Abbey, her first novel, where the main character is clueless and reads too many gothic horror novels and people are walking stereotypes and the main guy is kind of creepy, in a loltastic well meaning sort of way.
A Lord Peter Whimsey novel (Dorothy L Sayers, british lord detective, humor)
Tao of Pooh
King Leopold’s Ghost (kind of long and dense, about genocide in the congo)
Life of Pi
The first Anita Blake book by Laurell K Hamilton. lolol smutty vampire novels!
The Scarlet Pimpernel (woman is married to english fop who is really some hero guy who rescues people from the french revolution)
If she likes the kind of dreary, woman is harrowed by life but is independant sort of thing, Girl with a Pearl Earring or Their Eyes Were Watching God
